It was cool cool / it was just all cool
whew. home again. we ended up staying an extra day in hot spring due to SNOW! forecasts for the majority of the drive on Friday. They said 3-5 inches. We said see you on saturday. It was kinda like a snow day in school - a day you expected to be spent doing something else. But instead we were able to go to a movie, eat breakfast at waffle house, and play lots of wii - including guitar hero. (sarah - i totally understand your love. totally.) We basically enjoyed a quiet day.
It was a great trip to my parents. I have no idea why i only posted once. All i did all week was read the internet, play ds, or play wii. I even had more time than usual with the internet due to all the hands wanting to entertain the child. We did do a lot of errand running. it was so attractive since the car was in the garage, steps from the kitchen, and everything was easy to get to. no traffic! few lights! It was awesome! we went to wal-mart. to sonic.
it was nice to be there. i love being at my parents and was secretly glad to have an extra day to hang out. Ben was secretly glad b/c it meant an extra day with the wii. The wii was rachel's friend jenny's. it was only there for a couple of days. My parents see aiden so little that i enjoyed the time they had with him.
The best thing of the trip was all! the! dogs! we had pepper. my parents have an old miniature schnauzer and a sitzu puppy. My sister had her bf's boston terrier (baby love). then when jenny c got there on Thursday she added her st. charles' puppy (trip). it was awesome. trip and pepper got along so well. as ben said they played like puppies in dog food commercials. no barking or growling. they played with their toys. they were sooooooooooo cute. SO CUTE!

merry, merry christmas
merry christmas to all!
we made it to arkansas, safe and sound. well, maybe not sound in the mind as 12 hours of entertaining the child and/or trying to get him to sleep drove me crazy by the end. I have been very happy to be surrounded by people who are fighting to hold/entertain the child. It has been nice to not go running to every cry. to leave for hours at a time (leaving milk, of course). having lunch with my friend courtney. reading the internet. playing text twist. watching the dogs play like the crazy animals they are.
it has been warm. i've be wearing flip flops.
we've attended my high school friends' annual christmas party. it is crazy that there were THREE (3!) kids. crazy. half of us have kids. CRAZY!

i'm dreaming of a white christmas
we are off to arkansas tomorrow for our christmas vacation. we are driving, and though i am not looking forward to 10-12 hours with an infant, after a couple blogger's infants have come down with ear infections, i am glad that we are driving and not flying.
ben is in uber-travel mode. he has today "off" from school. (It was only a half day with holiday parties, so he wouldn't see any kids, so there would be no reason for him to be there.) He has made his list. We borrowed his parents acrua suv, so we aren't worried about space, but he has started packing the car. Aiden and I, on the other hand, do have our list, but are more interested in laying in the bed napping and playing text twist.

do you believe in rock and roll?
Oh my god, the snow. it is crazy how much snow we have gotten. we got 6 inches just last night. of course, our snow removal people are mia. sigh. i hate being "president" of the condo. mainly b/c i am somehow responsible to the whole building for these people. they were fine, though annoying, last season, so I am not sure what the story is.
last night we had a couple of people over for a holiday dinner. i cooked a turkey! i knew nothing about cooking a turkey, like it has to thaw for FIVE DAYS in the fridge. or 8 hours in the sink. of course, i did it in the sink as i did not find this fact out until friday. i followed alton brown's recipe. i was afraid the whole time i was going to poison everyone, well, not every one as steve and jen don't eat meat. and i knew that tom and rachel would forgive me. but it turned out well despite me lack of knowledge. not one died and the meat was not over cooked. now i could do it better. though i doubt that i'll cook a whole turkey anytime soon as no one eats the dark meat except the cat. next time i'll just cook a turkey breast. All in all it turned out well. we had the usual sides. cooking for people makes me happy, and we all had a good time. aiden did well.
for clean up ben put the carcass in a bag, but it was way too snowy to take it out. we knew from experience that the cat likes poultry, so ben put it in the bath tub so the kitty wouldn't get it. well, she did as i found when i glanced in the bath tub this morning and though, the turkey fell out of the bag. I am sure the cat thought she was in heaven with the all you can eat turkey bar. she hasn't asked for food all day.
friday night we had ben's school's christmas party. it was fun, but we took aiden and at 9 he had a complete meltdown forcing us to leave. though we were already heading that way. it was fun to meet ben's coworkers. it was just the middle school, which is small, so it was a small gathering.
ben is currently watching forest gump. on the history channal. random.
whew. i've been baking all days today cookies for gifts. i baked for ben's party. i've spent a lot of time cooking this weekend. the weekends are always busy for me as I try to get a bunch of stuff done when i have ben here to facilitate large chucks of time. it is nice, but by sunday night i am tired.
four days until we go to my parent's house in arkansas!

i love you more today than yesterday
try one for the christmas card. no luck.
i love our vet.
our animals have weird inflections. but we love them!
last wednesday we got about 5 inches of snow. it is early for snow. i was hoping that since it is still early in december that it would warm up and it would melt. no such luck. last night ben had to dig out my car so i could drive to the store. the best part of the staying at home gig is not having to drive until all the streets are clear and dry. we are suppose to get a half inch of ice tonight. great. well, doesn't matter to me, and in the city it will be fine, but it will suck for ben's commute tomorrow in the suburbs.
of course, yesterday on chris's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!), it was a record high in atlanta and in hot springs. hurpms. send us some sun to melt this nastiness! Snow is pretty while it is falling, but a couple od days later, it is just dirty and slushly in the streets and icey on the sidewalks.
i love our vet. what is a good christmas present for my awesome vet?
